Three Founding Fathers Walk Into a Bar: And You're Invited

What were the Founding Fathers actually thinking the night before they changed the world? The Nonesuch Playmakers have a theory, and it involves a bar, a lot of candlelight, and more than a few uncomfortable conversations.

This August, the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History is proud to host Three Founding Fathers Walk Into a Bar, a brand-new one-act historical drama that imagines a revolutionary conversation.

The Scene

It's July 3rd. Tomorrow, everything changes. But tonight, three of America's Founding Fathers are sitting around a table, and the weight of what they're about to do is starting to feel very, very real.

Three Founding Fathers Walk Into a Bar is a comedy written for adults, packed with laughs, but it doesn't shy away from the very human tension that must have filled those final hours before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. What doubts did they carry? What arguments were still unresolved? What did it actually feel like to be on the edge of committing treason against the most powerful empire in the world?
