The museum schedules periodic history talks, with a local historian or author coming in to give a free presentation on some aspect of local or national history.
This month, the event will be a Firefighter Roundtable.
“Everyone is invited to come and hear stories from current and retired local firefighters,” event organizers said.
The talk is scheduled for Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
Museum officials invite area residents to visit that day “to hear stories from throughout the careers from some local heroes. After an introduction, the firefighters and museum guests will move down to museum’s basement, which is entirely focused on local firefighting history. Visitors will get to take a look at all of the firefighting artifacts, including Mount Airy’s first three fire trucks, while hearing stories from people who know all about firefighting. This event will not only be an exciting and educational opportunity, but will also double as a chance to record these stories so that they will not be lost in the future”
