The introductory meeting for the Tar Heel Junior Historians is at 3:30pm on Thursday September 5 in the Museum Classroom on the 2nd floor.
The award winning Jesse Franklin Pioneers Chapter of the Tar Heel Junior Historians is open to all 4th through 8th grade students in Surry County. The group meets every Thursday during the school year from 3:30 to 4:30 September through April. Chick-fil-a will again be our sponsor.
Become a history detective and find out more about historical buildings in Mount Airy and Surry County, famous local men and women,inventions from Surry County and Mount Airy and all about the Old North State. And have FUN while doing all that! We'll host speakers, take field trips, do cool projects and end our year with a trip to the Annual Junior Historian Convention in Raleigh where you'll have the opportunity to compete in statewide competitions.
Membership is free and includes Tar Heel Junior Historian magazine published biannually.
