Museum wraps up ‘Just a Dollar’ campaign

The idea was simple, if everyone in Surry County gave $1 to the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, the museum could raise about $70,000. While that wasn’t the case, museum officials are pleased to have raised $3,000 in the first year of implementing the “Just a Dollar” campaign.

Hospitality Academy Gets Grand Tour Of Museum

Those working in the local hospitality industry were treated to a class Tuesday that helped educate them on all there is to do in Mount Airy.
The class, called “What’s there to do around here?” was sponsored by the Small Business Center of Surry Community College and yesterday was hosted by the staff of the Mount Airy Visitor’s Center.

The Jesse Franklin Pioneers chapter of the Tar Heel Junior Historians returned from the state convention victorious for the second year.
This year’s group finished in second place in middle school division video contest despite the fact that only three of the 12 members were actually in middle school. The rest were in elementary school students.

Latin Music Event Was A Hit For The Museum

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History held a festive party at Old North State Winery last night where the crowd enjoyed a change of pace as Latin tunes filled the air.
