Genealogy Classes taught by historian and genealogist Kate Rauhauser-Smith for Beginners 10am – 1pm and Intermediate 2pm – 5pm $10 per class or free for Museum Members In the morning class, designed for beginners or as a refresher for long-time genealogists, we'll quickly assess where each participant is and go from there including data organization, basic record types such as physical resources – government and religious records, archives, cemeteries, family letters and photos plus online sources. The afternoon class is for researchers with some experience and those who've hit brick walls. Again, after accessing where each participant is on the genealogy journey, we will develop strategies that will help you take the next steps and make breakthroughs regarding DNA – what it tells you and what it doesn’t and how DNA matches can help triangulate on mystery relatives. We will also be using records on collateral relations and neighbors to breakthrough or sneak around brick walls.
