Tie-In Event for New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music
WPAQ's Merry-Go-Round, held every Saturday from 11am - 1:30pm in the Downtown Cinema Theatre, is the second longest running live radio broadcast in America - second only to the Grand Ole Opry. It features bluegrass, old-time, country, folk and gospel music.
New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.
