A visit to a General Store in the late 1800s and early 1900s was a highly anticipated event. Mail could be "backed" and sent, or picked up at the store. It was a place to learn the news of a community.

Here goods were sometimes purchased, or bartered, and at other times, "carried over" until crops came in and a little cash became available. The General Store in the Museum's South Gallery was created by using interior materials from the H.G. Wright General Store on the Westfield Road. The store had a rich history dating back to the late 1800s and was about to be demolished.
