Tie-In Event for New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music
Saturday March 20, 2010 (snow date March 27) Alleghany County Library
122 N. Main Street
Sparta, NC
10:00am - 11:30am and 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Alleghany County Library will host two dulcimer workshops presented by Musician Jeff Sebens. The dulcimer has a long history in Appalachia, coming here with some of the earliest German settlers. Prevous musical experience is not necessary and instruments will be provided if you do have one.
The morning session will be geared to players who have never touched a dulcimer before and the afternoon session will be for folks who have a little experience or as a continuation for those who attended in the morning.
This program is sponsored by the Alleghany Arts Council, with partial fund by a NC Arts Council Grassroots Grant.
Registration is required and space is limited. There is no charge for the workshops.
To register or for information, contact the library at 336-372-5573 or dbrewer@nwrl.org.
New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
